Drama, Drama, Drama: The Craziness of K-Pop Scandals

It feels like scandals are a huge focus lately in the K-Pop industry. It can be hard to swallow if idols you look up to are involved in a scandal but it’s important to know how to handle it.

The most important thing to realize is to truly not get involved and dwell too much. If you’re someone who likes to know as much as possible, it’s still a better idea that you let the situation run its course no matter how big or small the situation is. Take a step back from social media - plenty of fans will insert themselves even when it isn’t necessary and things they say could get in your head. Just remember there truly is nothing you can do as a fan to help a celebrity. It’s best to just let things happen as they do. Sure, you can have your own opinions but it’s also a good idea to not make it an entire personality trait.

Aside from stepping away from social media, if consuming content involving an accused idol bothers you, it’s okay not to consume their content, immerse yourself in other idol content, or pick up completely different hobbies. There really is no reason to upset yourself more if you can simply avoid it as much as you can. If something is bothering you to the point of anxiety, maybe find an outlet to let it out whether it’s talking to someone or writing in a journal. Give the fandom, the idols, and any content some distance to allow yourself to calm down and take care of yourself.

It’s crucial to take care of yourself above anything else. While it’s unfortunate these things happen, idols aren’t perfect. Scandals will happen. Give yourself some time apart when necessary.  K-Pop will still be there when you’re ready to come back to it.
