Throwback Thursday: April Debuts

We are now in April. It is the month of blooming flowers. It’s the month of sunny days and rainy skies, and the month many groups had their big debuts. So, let us look at the beginnings of some of our favorite groups and watch as they grow into the groups we love to listen to today.

Apink - “I don’t Know”

Apink, the IST Entertainment girl group, had their big debut on April 19, 2011. These girls have been in the game for a while and have released hit after hit ever since. Their debut track, “I don’t Know,” is a bubbly pop track that brings a smile to your face. The members Bomi, Eunji, Naeun, Chorong, Yookyung, Namjoo, and Hayoung are shown in the music video in bright colors and smiles. The matching outfits and the cute concept of having a crush made for an adorable video you will never forget. “I don’t Know” is a joyful track and has a high note that makes you feel like you are levitating. Apink have always been iconic, and their music has shown it ever since their debut.

EXO - “MAMA”

On April 8, 2012, SM Entertainment mega boy group EXO released their hit debut track, “MAMA.” This track is split into two separate songs in two different languages. The two units that initially made up EXO, EXO-K and EXO-M, sing in the language represented by the title of the group name. EXO-K sings in Korean, and EXO-M sings in Mandarin. While being in different languages, both songs are the same. Both have a dramatic opening with a deep, dark chant and a powerful high note. The heavy orchestra makes for a theatrical track that sends chills down your spine.

NCT/NCT U - “The 7th Sense”

Another SM Entertainment boy group had their big debut in April, and that is NCT. On April 9, 2016, we got a first look into the group NCT. The sub-unit, NCT U, stepped into the scene with their hit track, “The 7th Sense.” This bass-induced track is a rap and vocal-heavy song that, to this day, many know word for word. “The 7th Sense” is the debut of members Taeyong, Ten, Doyoung, Jaehyun, and Mark, and they went all out. This being the beginning of NCT was an awesome and exciting way for us to learn who NCT is as a group and their sound. There are memorable parts, and visuals that are unforgettable. The track is so much fun, and I can only wish to hear this live one day.
