Weki Meki Caps off Career with Digital Single “CoinciDestiny”

Weki Meki dropped their final music release “CoinciDestiny” on June 12, marking the end of the eight-member group. It comes more than two and a half years after their final EP I AM ME. in November 2021. The track’s title combines “coincide” and “destiny,” representing that though Weki Meki and their fans met by chance, their bond was meant to be. Ji Suyeon, Elly, Choi Yoojung, Kim Doyeon, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy gave fans one last gift which includes behind-the-scenes credits by some of the members. 

“CoinciDestiny” is a soft pop track paired with an outdoor spring music video. Though simple, the music video features a story of the members coming together and joining hands one last time. As the lyrics imply, Weki Meki and their fans will always feel connected regardless of disbandment: “CoinciDestiny / We were meant to be / For eternity.” Suyeon and Rina helped write the lyrics, alongside Boran (보란) and Enzo. Suyeon and Boran (보란) composed the song with Tea Belle and ARTiffect producer MCK

Suyeon and Rina previously contributed to “Just Us,” a 2020 B-side which Suyeon co-composed with Village. Rina, Yoojung, and Lucy wrote the lyrics. “CoinciDestiny” wraps up Weki Meki’s career, which began in August 2017 with the EP WEME. Fantagio, the group’s management, has not confirmed an exact disbandment date as of this article’s publication.
