Feel The “Cosmic” Love With Red Velvet
After their successful release in November 2023, SM Entertainment's iconic girl group Red Velvet is back. That’s right, our spooky R&B queens are here with a six-song EP called, Cosmic. Everything about this comeback is artistic and showcases Red Velvet’s quirky concepts that we all love to see from them.

Title Track: “Cosmic”
This title track screams Red Velvet. It’s sweet, elegant, a little creepy, unique, and has amazing vocals. I really love the title track. This is something new from Red Velvet, and it is cool to see them go in a different direction, as in the sound of music, while still sticking to their roots. In the beginning, we get the strums of an electric guitar. The strums make you sway your head with the beat. The girls then start, and you can’t help but smile when you hear them singing together. The lyrics are addictive, and the way they harmonize on certain parts just tickles your brain. The chorus is amazing. You can feel the love through the lyrics, and you can’t help but sing along because it’s so addictive. Just sitting here, I have listened to it five times. I’m listening to it now. The lyrics, “Love is Cosmic. I’m riding on your rhythm. Through the solar system, come with me” have been on my mind all day.
While watching the video, you can't help but think, “Hm, I’ve seen this before.” If you’ve seen the movie Midsommar or happened to live in Sweden, then this scenery looks very familiar. In both the film and in Sweden, a festival called Midsommar is held. The festival involves flower crowns, singing, dancing, and gathering around family and friends. In the video, we see the members incorporate a more horror movie feel to the concept, and it fits them perfectly. The video is beautiful, and it’s a fun song to listen to.
There is a song for everyone on the EP. If you enjoy more upbeat, cheerful, and bubbly tracks, songs like, “Sunflower,” “Love Arcade,” and “Bubble” are the songs for you. “ If you prefer more hard-hitting and striking beats, “Sunflower” is perfect! Lastly, if you are more into slow jams, R&B, and laid-back songs, then the tracks, “Last Drop” and “Night Drive” will bring a smile to your face.
