DEVYN Shows Awareness in “Too Comfortable”

Rising Korean-American solo artist DEVYN recently dropped her latest digital single “Too Comfortable.” In her new release, she touches on a raw and relatable story that can occur in relationships.

In July, DEVYN released the intimate and personal track “WHO,” which described the stages of growth and understanding she’s gone through. The Kraze was also given the chance to interview DEVYN about “WHO” and get to know more about herself as an up-and-coming solo artist!

“Too Comfortable” is a ballad R&B track that reveals an intimate and often common story within a toxic relationship. In the chorus, she sings, “Are we way too comfortable?” which shows vulnerability in questioning how bad things have gotten to get to this point. This melancholic track expresses the moment of realization where one can be so far deep in a relationship that they become too comfortable to make any sort of change, allowing the toxic traits in the relationship to unfortunately repeat themselves. Her dreamy vocals and sweet harmonic melodies represent the comfort in familiarity, while the lyrics acknowledge awareness and growth. It’s clear that DEVYN wanted to express the raw emotions and awareness with a similar message from her previous release, “WHO”—change, growth, and acceptance of her past and present self. DEVYN’s personal storytelling in her music only proves that she’s a one-of-a-kind artist that’s genuine about herself and her journey to who she is today.
