Throwback Thursday: Best of Apink

To celebrate Apink’s latest comeback with the insanely catchy “Dumhdurum,” this week’s Throwback Thursday brings you Apink’s best of the best! From their early days to some of their more recent hits, take a look back at some of the songs that have contributed to the girl group’s illustrious career.

“I Don’t Know”

In 2011, the members of Apink were wide-eyed newbies that were fresh to the K-Pop scene. The girls debuted with their song “I Don’t Know,” an impossibly cheery and upbeat love track. In addition to its romantic string effects, the music video makes the song seem like something straight out of a fairytale.

“NoNoNo”

The title track from their 2013 mini-album Secret Garden, “NoNoNo” is every bit as bright as “I Don’t Know,” but with a bit of a mature spark to it. Even if you’re not familiar with the song, you probably know the chorus. If you are still drawing a blank, there’s a 100% chance you’ve seen your favorite idol do the point choreography from the chorus. “NoNoNo” earned Apink various accolades, such as peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart.

“Mr. Chu”

“Mr. Chu” is synonymous with Apink. The 2014 track comes off their fourth mini-album, Pink Blossom. With its classically bright Apink sound, “Mr. Chu” went on to win the group six music show wins. It was with this song that Apink started to see their real rise to fame; because of this, you’re likely to find it on almost any K-Pop essentials playlist.

“I’m So Sick”

As a testament to their staying power, Apink hit it big with the K-Pop fans of today with their 2018 song “I’m So Sick.” The song is the title track from their seventh mini-album, One & Six, and showcases the group’s ability to maintain their signature sound while growing with musical trends of the time (evident most notably in the song’s girl crush concept). With K-Pop’s prominence in social media, “I’m So Sick” landed the girls on the Billboard Social 50 Chart for the first time, along with charting on the Billboard World Albums Chart at No. 11 in addition to topping various Korean charts.
