Rookie girl group PIXY has made their comeback with their second mini-album Fairyforest : Temptation and the promoted title track “Addicted.” This title track follows the group’s horror concept well, with the music video sporting dark aesthetics, blood, member Dia being held by chains, and fast camera motions for intensity.

“Addicted” is a mid-tempo sound with hip-hop influence, synth, percussion, and a low instrumental both at the beginning and end. The song is supported by intense rap verses between rappers Lola and Satbyeol and strong harmonies that follow the suit of the track’s predecessors, “Let Me Know” and “Wings.”

Continuing PIXY’s storyline from “Let Me Know,” and as mentioned in the music video description, “Addicted” strongly showcases the last chapter best and “brings back the feeling into an interpretation of PIXY’s addiction towards the witch.” The dark colors and themes shown throughout the video fit the feeling of this chapter of their storyline, particularly where Dia is shown held by chains after having been sacrificed to the witch in “Let Me Know.”

The album’s B-sides feature three other songs, with “Bewitched” as their second promotional track, “Moonlight,” and “Still with me (To.Winxy),” a song dedicated to their fanbase. Alongside those tracks are English and instrumental versions of “Bewitched,” an English version of “Moonlight,” and an instrumental version of “Addicted.” The album’s intro track, “Intro (End of the forest),” also features parts of their other tracks, including part of the introduction to “Wings” and shortened verses from “Addicted” and “Let Me Know.”

PIXY has proven yet again that they are a strong and capable rookie group. Having only debuted this same year, they are definitely the ones to watch as they grow as a group. Their storyline has captivated fans since debut, and it’s exciting to see where they go from here.
