Summertime Feel: Girl Groups

As the days grow warmer and longer, it is the perfect time to pull out those summer songs that give you that beach vibe. For this Throwback Thursday, we will be taking a look at some classic summer girl group songs.

Wonder Girls - “Why So Lonely”

Wonder Girls bring an effortlessly cool sound with their reggae inspired song, “Why So Lonely.” This band-styled song immediately pulls you in with their beautiful vocals and harmonies. The music video gives us a throwback with its ‘70s vibes and uses a sunset color scheme as we follow the different members, who find out their partner is “cheating” on them and seek revenge.

Red Velvet - “Red Flavor”

“Red Flavor” by Red Velvet is a burst of high energy that is an absolute joy. What makes this track stand out the most is the repetition of, “red flavor,” in the background as it adds a unique yet addicting rhythm. The vocals of the members, particularly Wendy’s powerhouse range, elevates this song into the iconic track it is now. The music video reflects the bright energy by using tons of color and incorporating various tropical fruits.

2NE1 - “FALLING IN LOVE”

2NE1 brings that summer sound with “FALLING IN LOVE.” This song uses reggae elements while also keeping that edgy electronic hip-hop sound we are used to hearing from 2NE1. It is overall a refreshing and fun song, and this is particularly noticeable while watching the music video. The video is quite charismatic as it features the members having fun together while also keeping to the 2NE1 style with their bold outfits and powerful energy.

SISTAR - “I Swear”

Of course it is never summer without mentioning the queens of the ummer comeback, SISTAR. “I Swear” is an absolutely refreshing and breezy song that encapsulates that summer feeling. The upbeat brassy sounds are so happy you can’t help but to smile as you listen along. The music video is light and happy as it follows the members having lots of summer fun together.

What is a summer song you can’t get enough of?
