SISTAR19 Reunites for New Single!

It’s been such a long time since we’ve gotten any SISTAR releases since their departure from their former agency, Starship Entertainment, and excited is an understatement when SISTAR’s sub-unit SISTAR19 announced that they were reuniting for another release. While we are blessed to know that the SISTAR members have been active with their own individual projects, SISTAR19 is one unit that fans have been eagerly awaiting to know if Hyolyn and Bora would ever come together again, with their last comeback occuring back in 2013. Titled, NO MORE (MA BOY), their latest digital single is a great kick-off to 2024.

“NO MORE (MA BOY)”

The reunion of SISTAR19 has definitely gotten veteran fans excited for the two-track digital single and the duo does not disappoint. Offering up a sexy, sultry, and all-the-synonyms-in-between track, “NO MORE (MA BOY)” is a telling of how love doesn’t work out and how these ladies are going to be just fine, especially if this relationship wasn’t worth it anymore. Like their previous releases in the past, we knew that SISTAR19 was going to give a song that will make you want to dance and move your body and “NO MORE (MA BOY)” is exactly that. Unlike their debut track of “Ma Boy” that was more cutesy and flirty, their elevated track of “NO MORE (MA BOY)” is the grown-up version that is more experienced in love and relationships. What was once a love that was seen through heart-shaped glasses, is no more.

When it comes to their music video, SISTAR19 truly show off how much they have grown and are much more mature women, not hesitating to embrace their looks, fashion, and personality. For longtime fans, it’s quite refreshing to see how far they’ve come from their early years ‘til now. Of course, no SISTAR19 music video is complete without having key choreography in place, even calling back to their last comeback, “Gone not around any longer,” by utilizing a long table as part of their choreography. A pleasant surprise in “NO MORE (MA BOY)” is that for the first time, we don’t have Bora rapping. Instead, her vocals come to the forefront. It’s not often we get to hear her sing as she did in SISTAR; her rapping is more of her space within a track. It may take some time getting use to and there are parts where you think a rap would fit in well to the song, but that doesn’t take away from the magic of Bora’s delightful vocals, which still manages to keep up fairly well with Hyolyn’s power vocals.

For those who are missing that summery sound from SISTAR and SISTAR19, do not fear as their second song on the single, “SAUCY,” will give you just that vibe. “SAUCY” is much more lighter and sweeter compared to its sister track but will still give you that fun vibe they are known for and that fans adore. It’s such a great milestone to see SISTAR19 back in the game, and fans new and old will definitely appreciate this particular release. Let’s just hope that whether it be SISTAR19 or SISTAR as a whole, we won’t have to wait as long for another reunion.
