Job Description

Editors are the backbone behind the editorial team for The Kraze. Candidates will support in developing, editing, proofreading, and formatting a wide range of topics covered in the stream of K-Pop. This will include, but not limited to, news articles, featured stories, columns, statistics, and reviews.

Our ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail; a proven track record of delivering high-quality, error-free products with tight deadlines; some experience editing any papers or publications, preferably in a magazine style; and advanced skills in using Google Docs through Google Drive. Have knowledge of various types of editing; including content editing, line editing, copy editing, and proofreading. The candidate should be eager to learn and grow in this role and be willing to adapt to changes in focus within the area of communications and outreach.

The work experience accumulating at The Kraze will ensure an exceptional portfolio and well-rounded skills set that young professionals can confidently take with them to their next opportunity. Internship credit may be available, depending on your university’s requirements.

This is a volunteer opportunity. As of now, compensation will not be given.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Working with writers to revise content or document structure/organization

  2. Follow style guides along with direct chain of editing process

  3. Editing and proofreading content for grammar, clarity, consistency, tone, and style

  4. Formatting and styling headings, body content, figures, tables, and other document elements

  5. Reviewing draft and final versions of documents for accuracy, completeness, and consistency prior to sending them to the graphic designers for layout

  6. Report to editor-in-chief with any concerns on assignment and availability

  7. Willingness to meet deadlines and quick turnarounds for article publications when necessary

Qualifications

  1. A degree or taking college courses in any relations to communication, journalism, English or media

  2. Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills, including grammar & spelling

  3. High attention to detail and strong organization and project management skills are a must

  4. Ability to learn multiple style guides to develop and edit documents

  5. Ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines

  6. Ability to work well both individually and in a team environment

  7. Reliable and responsive during all needed communications through emails and online chat

  8. Organized, juggle multiple of projects, and meet tight deadlines
