Throwback Thursday: Best of Zion.T
Welcome back to another Throwback Thursday! We’ve returned with another “Best of” series, but this time we’re focusing on solo artist Zion.T! It’s been quite some time since the artist made a comeback; his last album was released last year. A year has been way too long since we’ve had some soothing Zion.T vocals grace us, and we can all agree that we are missing him quite a bit. While we wait for new music from the soloist, here are some of the best songs he has released thus far.
“Click Me (2013)” feat. Dok2
Now for this week on Throwback Thursday, we’re getting a little more personal as we take a trip down memory lane. “Click Me (2013)” is a special track that’s introduced some of us (including me) to Zion.T. This is actually one of the very first K-Pop songs that I ever listened to, and I remember distinctly thinking to myself that Zion.T’s vocals are a type that I’d never heard before. “Click Me (2013)” really made me a fan of the soloist, and for the longest time I had this song on repeat. “Click Me (2013)” is off his Red Light album, which you should definitely check out as it features a lot of R&B lo-fi sounds and beats that are perfect to sit back and relax to, or to put on while getting some work done.
“Yanghwa BRDG”
Arguably his most iconic, popular release thus far, “Yanghwa BRDG” is a song and music video that you simply cannot skip. You’ll find yourself getting lost within his sweet and soothing vocals as this song is such a lullaby. If you find yourself feeling stressed out about the things that are going on in your life, “Yanghwa BRDG” will give you a sense of relief. It can be compared to that feeling of releasing a deep breath after holding it in for such a long time. Fun fact: BTS’s Jungkook had the great opportunity of performing “Yanghwa BRDG” with Zion.T, and fans know him to be of the soloist’s biggest fanboys out there.
“No Make Up”
Let’s pick up the pace and end on an upbeat, uplifting song like Zion.T’s “No Make Up.” Zion.T makes it clear in his song that he wants listeners to know they don’t need any makeup to make themselves feel good. What matters most is that they embrace their natural self. The music video is simple in black and white, focusing on Zion.T and the accompanying band. He is singing in the middle of what seems to be an aircraft hangar, which adds to the simple aesthetic. “No Make Up” is such a jam and a highly recommended addition to your music library if you don’t have it in there already.
