Throwback Thursday: ZICO Collabs

ZICO, the leader of boy group Block B, has gone on to be a solo artist where he produces and writes music. Since his debut, he has continuously produced bops and has brought us iconic collaborations, so let’s check some out!

“Boys And Girls”

Featuring the artist Babylon, “Boys And Girls” is an upbeat song that perfectly blends Babylon's voice with ZICO’s rapping. The music video is an explosion of colors and partying that matches the brightness of the song, and the repetition of the line, “I’m a boy, you’re a girl,” will constantly stay in your mind.

“SoulMate”

“SoulMate” is a silky sweet romance song featuring IU. The song brings out a nostalgic feeling with its retro melody mixed with R&B and ‘90s pop. ZICO and IU’s vocals blend very well, and the surprise addition of Crush’s vocals in the chorus really brings out the simplistic beauty in the style of “SoulMate.” The music video has a hazy yellow as the focal color, giving the video a vintage feel for this love song.

“Okey Dokey”

One of the most iconic songs to come out from Season 4 of the reality show Show Me The Money, “Okey Dokey” is a song that is guaranteed to hype you up. As a collaboration with MINO, the flow of this whole song is impeccable and has become a staple in K-Pop culture. It recently became popular again when it was featured in a performance for the K-Drama True Beauty

“BERMUDA TRIANGLE”

As a collaboration between ZICO, DEAN, and Crush, “BERMUDA TRIANGLE” is a powerful, bass-heavy song that reflects the powerhouse of the three K-R&B icons featured. What truly makes this song unique is that each member’s verse reflects their own musical style as they flex their success.

ZICO has continued to produce unique song after song and is unafraid to play with a variety of styles, and being able to create and collaborate with other artists has allowed him to flourish in the music industry. Which song do you love?
