Epik High Brings Back Nostalgic Memories with “Rain Song”

Epik High is back with their first ever single release, “Rain Song” featuring Colde, and it’s just as amazing fans expected.

“Rain Song” opens up with the smooth vocals of Colde accompanied by a single acoustic guitar for a beautifully nostalgic intro before seamlessly moving into the primary beat with bass and synthesizer. Many of Epik High’s songs have simple background tracks, and this is no different; it seems to only consist of bass, drums, piano, and synth, but those elements are enough to carry the whole track from start to finish. The song is definitely one that was meant to bring back memories of someone you miss—and as always, the group does a great job of conveying the emotions through their words with lyrics like “When it rains and I can't sleep and sad music plays, like the lyrics to an old song, I think of you,” “Danger, danger. I let myself cry my heart out. If I try to hold the emotions in, they'll swallow me alive. It's useless to blame me, or you, or this lonely weather. Just let me miss you wholeheartedly,” “I know, I know you will never take me back,” and “The past hurt more because I pretended to be okay. Now, I invite it with a smile. I talk to myself in this empty night. The words will echo and disappear like they always do. Leave it alone.”* At around the three minute mark, vocalist Younha makes an unexpected appearance on the track, which provides a very nice change of atmosphere, although the heavy feeling of melancholic longing still hangs in the air.

All in all, Epik High has done it again, providing a brand new song that fans and non-fans alike will want to replay on those lonely rainy days or even simply just because it’s beautiful. Reminisce when it rains with Epik High’s beautiful music video for “Rain Song” below!
