JMIN Proved His “Dedication” with His First EP Homecoming

H1GHR MUSIC’s newest artist fits really well into the family. JMIN is a young Korean-American rapper who released his first EP not long after the announcement that he signed with the label.

Tracklist:

  1. “I Swear*

  2. “Don’t Worry” (feat. Mirani, PARK HYEONJIN)

  3. “Dedication” (feat. Jay Park)

  4. “Want Me”

  5. “Wave” (feat. CAMO)*

  6. “You and Me”*

  7. “Tryna Find Your Love”

Born and raised in the U.S., JMIN was pursuing music in the states, and you can still check out his previous works on his personal YouTube channel. He just recently moved to Seoul, which makes the album title Homecoming a lot more literal, celebrating the artist going back to his roots to work on his future.

“Dedication” feat. Jay Park

Homecoming includes a total of seven tracks, including the title song “Dedication” featuring none other than Jay Park himself. On H1GHR HOUR, H1GHR MUSIC’s official Clubhouse listening party, JMIN actually mentioned that he worked on the track for a while and even for himself it was a surprise that Jay Park wanted to jump on. But of course, who would say no to that? “Dedication” has a catchy melody with a groovy vibe, and the two artists balance each other out pretty well. The corresponding music video is quite simple with a chill summer feel to it, showing good chemistry as just two dudes casually chilling and vibing to the music.

Homecoming

Throughout Homecoming, JMIN kept his previous style, but also broadened his sound by playing with additional genres like trap, rock, EDM, and pop. This makes each song sound a little different while keeping the cohesiveness.

While the album is mostly in English, the two other collaborative songs include some Korean lyrics as well. “Don’t Worry” is a mid-tempo song featuring two Korean artists, Mirani and PARK HYEONJIN, while “Wave” is a very laid-back, refreshing track featuring CAMO. The two actually worked together before on CAMO’s hit song “Life is Wet (feat. JMIN),” and as it’s one of my favorite tracks from the album, I’m sure fans were also pleased to hear this reunion.

With his H1GHR MUSIC debut, JMIN got the chance to prove to a wider audience that he is someone to look out for. Homecoming is a very solid first EP, and the tracklist has no skips. I can’t wait to see what other opportunities this will bring for JMIN and what other artists he will get to work with.

You can listen to the full album on your favorite streaming platforms, and don’t forget to check out the “Dedication” music video featuring Jay Park either.
