NAYEON Makes It “POP!” in Solo Debut

Make way, as a new Pop Princess has arrived. At long last, we have finally entered the era of TWICE members taking a swing at solo music projects and making their solo debuts. First up and highly anticipated is NAYEON with her self-titled album, IM NAYEON. Her debut album consists of a total of seven tracks, all perfect for the summer season and for fans to get up and dance. It also should be noted that she collaborated with Felix of Stray Kids and Wonstein on a couple of tracks to give even more color and splash to this solid debut.

Tracklist:

  1. POP!

  2. NO PROBLEM (Feat. Felix of Stray Kids)

  3. LOVE COUNTDOWN (Feat. Wonstein)

  4. CANDYFLOSS

  5. ALL OR NOTHING

  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

  7. SUNSET

It comes as no surprise that NAYEON kicked off her debut with a fun, catchy, and bright track with “POP!." Get ready to feel like your heart is about to burst and pop with this track as she lets it be known she’s coming for you and going to give you all the feels (no pun intended). Once caught by her, there is no letting go and she’s going to make your heart “POP!.” Resist if you can, but once swept up by her charm and beauty, it’s all over. Some takeaways from the song are that it is high energy and upbeat. It really plays on the effect of a racing heart with its tempo, and whenever you hear NAYEON say “POP,” it does have that popping sound effect that is the cherry on top. The hint of guitars layered in the back give it a little bit more of a spicy bite that sits on the edge of tease and cheekiness.

When it comes to the music video, all the stops have been pulled out for the TWICE member. Not only is the music video filled with glam and fashion, but one simply cannot take their eyes off how stunning NAYEON looks throughout. No real plot is needed as the primary focus is NAYEON and the choreography for “POP!” in the music video. There are also references to things that can pop (or have pop in the word) sprinkled through the music video, such as balloons, bubbles, and lollipops. It’s the key details such as these that make the music video even more of a delight. Viewers and fans are going to notice something new every time they go back to watch.

Overall, TWICE’s NAYEON impresses with a steady and fun debut that is perfect for the summer. Expect to be blasting “POP!” for a long time, and it may just be the new summer jam. The album itself shows her wonderful vocal color and has other tracks that you’re going to be grooving and swaying to, like “LOVE COUNTDOWN” or “CANDYFLOSS” to name a couple. NAYEON’s debut is sweet, charming, irresistible, and we cannot wait to see what she has next in-store.
