[Exclusive Interview:] JUNNY Talks On His Tour, Music, and More

2023 has begun, and JUNNY just kicked off his latest tour, blanc. With that, we had the chance to catch up with him as he talked about his tour hopes, his music and creative process, and what he does on his off-time.

Q: Hello! For our readers who are getting to know you for the first time, could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your music?

A: I'm JUNNY, a singer songwriter from Vancouver, Canada but right now living in Korea and I make tunes that you just might enjoy.

Q: You’re hitting up the U.S. and Europe with your current tour, blanc. What are you most looking forward to while on tour?

A: I’m just looking forward to performing for the fans and being able to meet them in person. Last year, having such a great time during my tour, I know what to expect. And to be able to visit these new cities, I can’t wait to put on a great show for them.

Q: While on tour, what is something that you must do in each city you visit? (ex: try local food dish, sight see)

A: Definitely try the local food, and if I have time, just do the casual things that locals do just so I can taste a feeling of what it’s like to live there.

Q: How would you describe your music style?

A: Very diverse, yet has a certain JUNNY vibe that is hard to describe but you will know when you listen to the songs – their words not mine!

Q: What is a style/genre of music that you’d like to try?

A: I wanna experiment more with R&B, going back to the sound that made me who I am and adding the flavor of all the things I learned throughout my career.

Q: What does music mean to you?

A: It means literally everything to me, and that’s what I want to be known by. A dude who loves music.

Q: What is your favorite part in getting to create your music? (ex: the production, shooting music videos, performances)

A: I enjoy all aspects to be honest, but I think I have the MOST fun when I’m just in the studio writing and fantasizing about how this record is gonna release and visualizing everything in my head. It’s like a drug.

Q: If you could meet your 2017 self, who was just about to debut, what is something you would like to say to them? What advice would you give?

A: Go to Korea to chase your dreams and just believe in your talent because you got this, bro.

Q: What do you hope listeners and fans can take away from your music?

A: The pure emotions that I felt when writing that particular song. It could be sad, happy, etc., does not matter as long as they can feel what I feel in the music and lyrics.

Q: How do you continue to stay inspired to create your art and music?

A: These days, I just try and enjoy every moment and the process of reaching my end goal. There are so many things to get inspired by, and maybe that’s just me, but I feel like we live in such an interesting day and age that I’m constantly inspired by whatever I see in front of me.

Q: How do you overcome challenges in the process of making your music?

A: I don’t force these songs I make to become what I intend to from the beginning. I like to let things breathe, and let it go a certain direction if the vibe of the session makes it go that way. I think that’s being creative and that’s when fresh ideas come into mind.

Q: When you’re not working on music, what other things keep you occupied and/or bring you happiness?

A: The Netflix app on my TV and iPad, the basketball court 10 minutes away from where I live, and most importantly my friends. Ironically, I make music with these dudes so it’s hard not to think about music.

Q: After a long day, what food, drink, TV show, or movie brings you comfort?

A: Any type of comfort food, I rarely rewatch movies, so I try and find what’s popular on Netflix, and Physical: 100 has been the most fun to watch so far.

Q: What experiences do you hope to take away from this tour?

A: More ideas and inspiration for new songs and growth in myself as an artist.

Q: What can we expect from JUNNY in 2023 aside from this tour?

A: You can expect many projects from me as well as a new song coming out very soon with a talented artist/friend, and hope you are all very excited because it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve written this year.

Q: Are there any last words that you’d like to say to your fans and our readers?

A: I love you all so so so much. Thank you for constantly supporting me and my music, and I promise to not let you all down. 2023 is going to be special, and I hope you are all ready for the ride!

On behalf of The Kraze, thank you to JUNNY, his team, and Unbound Entertainment Group for this opportunity to have this interview. Be sure to catch JUNNY on a tour in both the U.S. and Europe!
