BOBBY’s “Drowning” in “Cherry Blossom”s in First Solo Single

S.i.R, are you alright? When life gets hard and you want to rewind, BOBBY’s first solo single will have you running back to your childhood, back when there wasn’t a worry in the world. The good old days of wondering who was picking you up from school or wondering if your crush liked you back are where most people would rather be nowadays. However, BOBBY strips back those fears about adulting and fills your mind with ease. We’re all “Drowning,” but at least it’s in “Cherry Blossom”s when this single plays. The single album is composed of two pop-rap tracks composed by BOBBY and The Proof, and was released on March 21, 2023.

Released a day prior, “벚꽃 (Cherry Blossom)” is a sweet pop track reminding you that love isn’t everlasting and changes as quickly as seasons do. A groovy bass melody introduces the track, including a bedridden BOBBY shrouded in darkness, but the only illness he’s facing is lovesickness. Love blooms beautifully like cherry blossoms, but falls once spring has ended, some faster than others. It leaves you with an image of unrequited love as someone you once cherished has now moved on, leaving the relationship as a memory and love as a fantasy.

It’s said all too often that once a bond has been broken, you have the opportunity to find a stronger one, but in BOBBY’s case, a breakup doesn’t give you a glow-up, just regret. Cherry blossoms only bloom in spring, but the rapper wants love to last longer than that. However, you can’t make people stay, and being lovesick means your feelings foolishly continue to grow even when a new season begins and love appears. A distraught BOBBY is left wondering if there really is someone else better for him, or if he’s doomed to repeat his affairs.

But don’t worry, you can’t catch lovesickness, so stream “벚꽃 (Cherry Blossom)” on YouTube before spring ends.

Before there was lust, and after there was heat… But then, it finished with a flatline-worthy climax. “Drowning” starts with a bedridden BOBBY (his favorite pastime) surrounded by medical equipment in a seemingly abandoned hospital. But what’s got his heart at such a dangerous rate?

Well, he’s “Drowning” in love, but at least he’s got SOLE. The rap single was also released on March 21, and if you’re wondering what to do this spring, BOBBY certainly endorses “Netflix and chill.” Let’s just say that the track isn’t for the fainthearted, as SOLE references in the lyrics. The one lesson fans can take away from this track is that building your confidence is the only way to flourish. Instead of sitting back and watching everyone have the fun of achieving their goals, you should also do what it takes to get there.

For BOBBY and SOLE, that means not taking love for granted. As the rapper awakens, ripping the wires off, BOBBY takes his trauma and turns it into love. His heart was stolen and there’s no getting it back. In fact, the tarot cards show his fate more than any other. He’s destined to fall for looks and repeat his affairs until he finally gets to know someone. Desperate to break fate, BOBBY tries his best to escape, but finds himself pushed back into a coma until he eventually flatlines. Or is he finally committing to love?

After all, we can’t ignore the many innuendos, such as the lightsaber made of fire that burns the flowers. Like we learned from Jane the Virgin, once it’s crumpled, you can’t turn back. And it seems like BOBBY’s taken too many spins in his cadillac. Who’s next?
