ASTRO Member and Actor Cha Eunwoo Releases Solo Debut EP ENTITY

Eight years after his debut in ASTRO, singer and actor Cha Eunwoo has begun his solo music career. Released on February 15, both the EP and the music video for the title track “STAY” combine his talents in the industry. The EP showcases his soft singing voice and the video displays his acting chops, skills Cha Eunwoo has honed over the years.

Tracklist:

  1. “U&I”

  2.  “Fu*king great time”

  3.  “STAY”

  4. “WHERE AM I”

  5. “You’re the best”

  6.  “Memories” (CD ONLY)

Cha Eunwoo’s Career

Cha Eunwoo, born Lee Dongmin, began his career in the entertainment industry as an actor in 2014. The following year, he combined his acting skills with promotional material for his then-upcoming group ASTRO. Alongside MJ, Jinjin, Moonbin, Rocky, and Sanha, Cha Eunwoo starred in the 2015 web drama “To Be Continued.” ASTRO debuted on February 23, 2016 with the EP Spring Up.

Cha Eunwoo continued to act while as a boy group member, landing roles in productions such as 2018’s Gangnam Beauty, 2019’s Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, and 2020’s True Beauty. His first lead movie role came in 2022, with Decibel. He most recently starred as Jin Seowon in the drama A Good Day to Be a Dog, which ended in January.

“STAY”

Known for his charming romantic lead roles, Cha Eunwoo channels some of that energy into the music video for “STAY.” He portrays a man longing for his past lover, played by American actress India Eisley. The music video positions itself more like a short film, opting to focus solely on the storyline and lacking any shots of Cha Eunwoo singing or dancing.

ENTITY B-Sides

ENTITY is full of ballads. His solo song “First Love” in ASTRO’s Drive to the Starry Road album definitely showed that Cha Eunwoo’s voice has a delicate touch, but the ENTITY EP expands on his direction as an artist. Cha Eunwoo contributed lyrics for all songs, including playing the largest role for lyrics in “WHERE AM I.”

ENTITY as the title of his debut solo EP truly fits its new place in Cha Eunwoo’s career. An entity stands by itself, something with a distinct identity. Fans have long seen Cha Eunwoo as an actor, a boy group member, as a model and/or ambassador, but now they get to experience his solo artist image.
