Artist Highlight: Jun

SEVENTEEN’s Jun is no stranger to entertainment!

SEVENTEEN

Jun, born Wen Junhui, started training under Pledis Entertainment in October 2012 at the age of 16. Jun is one of two Chinese members and debuted as a part of SEVENTEEN’s Performance unit alongside The8, Hoshi, and Dino. As a trainee, the members had to use hand gestures and facial expressions to communicate with him as Jun did not speak Korean at the time. Upon learning Korean, he often struggled with pronunciation and has said that he is still not 100% proficient, and often relies on the members whenever he writes lyrics. Jun is credited with writing eight SEVENTEEN songs since 2016. The songs include Performance unit track “Highlight,” “MY I” Korean and Chinese versions, Performance unit track “Wave,” and “God of Music” parody “God of Light Music.”

SOLO

Jun released his first solo song, “Can you sit by my side? (能不能坐在我身边)”, in December 2018. His first EP Silent Boarding Gate was released on February 14, 2021 and consists of the tracks “Silent Boarding Gate” and “Crow”. With “Crow”, which also doubles as a single, Jun debuted as a solo artist on the Billboard World Digital Songs Sales chart. The following year, he released his third digital single “LIMBO” which has both a Korean and a Chinese version. The versions were released together in China as a digital album and sold over 50,000 copies. On July 4, 2023, Jun released the single “Psycho” which reached over 100,000 digital sales in China and over eight million views worldwide.

Acting

Juns involvement in entertainment began at a young age. Starting off as a child actor in China, he began starring in commercials at the age of two. He made his film debut in the 2007 film The Pye Dog which he won the “Best New Performer Silver Award” for at the 2008 Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild Award. Since then, Jun has starred in two more films and 11 Chinese dramas. He had his first main role in a drama in 2005 in Go! Go! Daddy. His most recent role was in 2023 with Exclusive Fairytale which he sings the OST for.
