Job Description

Writers at The Kraze are responsible for the curation of well-researched content published in the digital international Korean music, entertainment and culture magazine. Candidates for this position will have the opportunity to pursue their passions and take on a column or topic of their choosing and develop original copy for the digital magazine. Writers take charge in the hands-on role in idea development and written content creation from start to finish, resulting in the development of a robust portfolio in the international entertainment and media industry.

The Kraze welcomes all young professionals that are looking to get their foot into the door of the Korean music and entertainment industry. We help develop an invaluable set of skills paired with a polished resume through the opportunities provided by the magazine, such as interview experience with artists, networking with industry connections, and 1-on-1 career development mentorship. The work experience accumulating at The Kraze will ensure an exceptional portfolio and well-rounded skills set that young professionals can confidently take with them to their next opportunity. Internship credit may be available, depending on your university’s requirements.

This is a volunteer opportunity. As of now, compensation will not be given.

Columns currently open: K-Dramas, Fashion & Beauty, Artist Highlight, TV (Variety Shows) & Movies, Culture

Topics to cover, but not limited to:

  • Debut & disbanded artists/groups

  • Reviews (music videos, songs & albums, comeback concepts, concerts & events, dramas & movies)

  • Trending stories like anticipating comebacks, idols going into the military or acting career, scandals and legal issues

  • Korean fashion & beauty

  • Upcoming events

  • Korean culture (food, traditions, holidays, customs, etc.)

  • Music charts, album sales and music video views

Major Responsibilities

  1. Brainstorms ideas for new topics to cover for the next publication(s)

  2. Writes drafts for all articles and stories using our dedicated writing and editing process

  3. Submit all drafts to assigned editor and provide any necessary changes the editor requests

  4. Report to editor-in-chief with any concerns on assignment and availability

  5. Take on projects (i.e. artist interviews, roundtable discussions, event reviews) on a first come, first serve basis as available.

Qualifications

  1. A degree or taking high school/college courses in any relations to communication, journalism, English or media

  2. Must have an active interest and knowledge about K-Pop, the Hallyu wave and Korean culture

  3. Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills, including grammar & spelling

  4. Reliable and responsive during all needed communications through emails and online chat

  5. Organized, juggle multiple of projects, and meet tight deadlines

  6. Passionate and driven to share K-Pop not only within the current fandom, but also to outside of the K-Pop community that isn’t familiar with it

Additional/PREFERRED Qualifications

  1. Have connections to any Korean entertainment companies or Korean news outlets

  2. Ability to travel to K-Pop events

  3. Prior experience in working in publication
