THE CONVENTION

The third annual KCON NY is right around the corner! Held on Friday and Saturday June 23 and 24, this popular convention is going to be chock full of “All Things Hallyu.” With brand new installments such as the first ever KCON NY Beauty Block, even the most experienced attendees will be able to enjoy the new sights. Enjoy delicious Korean food from vendors on the Food Street and bust out some dance moves at a variety of dance workshops, one even led by the famous 1Million dance studio! Make sure to visit the panels and discussions on a myriad of topics, hosted by special guests including all your favorite bloggers, YouTube stars, and more. With over 100 booths, stock up on K-Pop merch at the stalls and grab a bunch of freebies while you’re at it! Whether you’re a convention connoisseur or a first timer, follow these tips and tricks in order to make the most of your experience!

There’s an App for That!

In order to make the most of your time at KCON, download the KCON App to make sure you have all the information you need! This nifty app also allows you to see what events are planned and even lets you set up your own schedule for the day. You wouldn’t want to miss out on any of the artist special appearances or limited giveaways, but with real-time updates this app has got your back.

KLUB KCON

One of the hottest events, Klub KCON hosts a special DJ to get everyone energized for the upcoming convention. Available to all ages, be ready to turn up and dance to your favorite K-Pop hits. One special quality of Klub KCON is that they usually feature a mystery K-Pop idol or group. Last year’s Klub KCON brought in the special guests SEVENTEEN, so don’t miss out on your chance to see some of your favorites up close and personal!

The Concert

The past years’ lineups have been spectacular, and this year is no different! With solid acts including CNBLUE, GFRIEND, NCT 127, TWICE and more, this year’s concert is sure to be hype both nights.

Checklist!

You’ve already arranged everything from tickets, your transportation, and your hotel room, but now it’s time to take one final check through all that you will need in order to make your KCON experience the best one.

Backpack: Make sure you bring one that’s roomy enough with pockets to fit all your merch, but don’t bring one that will drag you down.
Money: There’s so many opportunities to buy things whether it’s food, merch, makeup, and more. There are some ATM machines in the area, but they may have their own fees attached.
Poster Tube: Want to buy posters? Grab a poster tube so they won’t be bent while carrying them around.
Water: One of the most important things, since it’s going to be hot. Stay hydrated by bringing a reusable water bottle (you can even decorate it with pictures of your bias to fit the KCON theme).
Umbrella: Since the convention is held outdoors, it’s highly recommended to bring an umbrella JUST in case it decides to rain! Especially if you’re coming from out of town, periodically check the forecast and pack accordingly so that you’re ready for any weather.
Sunblock: You don’t want to get burnt waiting in line or walking around, so make sure you pack some sunscreen!
Battery pack: Taking pictures and videos will drain your phone, so bring a spare battery just in case!
Makeup: Especially with all the photo-ops and beauty booths, you’ll want to look your best, and perhaps you might even receive tips on the best makeup techniques that you’d want to try out there and then!

Most importantly, make sure that all of the items you bring comply with the venues’ requirements and restrictions! For example, selfie sticks are prohibited within Prudential Center. You don’t want to have to throw anything away or turn around and find a place to store your stuff.

Last Reminders

Before attending, make sure you check every guideline to ensure that you won’t be asked to leave an area for any reason. Know your schedule and stick to it! Having your schedule fresh in your mind will allow you to be on top of your game, and arriving early to your sessions will let you have a good chance of getting a good position in the crowd. Ultimately, you attend KCON to have fun and to meet people who have the same interests as you! So let loose and enjoy every moment of it!
