Add Sik-K’s New Track “X발” to Your Fall Playlist
I expected nothing less than a smooth track from Sik-K with his new song “Xbal,” a colloquial Korean swear word. This video is one of the first released by H1GHR Music that has English subtitles at release. It begins in a blurred flurry of color that cuts to an image of Sik-K sitting in front of a subway. The first lines of the song, “Xbal, please don’t go yet/ Sorry for cussing/ Don’t leave me that's what I meant,” seem to allude to a prior love that slipped through his fingers.
Outside of the lyrics, the sound is something that can easily be added to a mellow playlist. You can jam out while running errands or even when at home, where you can shamelessly sing the chorus, “Be my f****** wife.”
The video itself is shot beautifully, with less of a focus on Sik-K himself and more on the turmoil happening in his surroundings, lending beautifully to his lyrics. With mostly muted colors interlaced with reds and yellows, the video is very easy on the eyes. What caught my eye the most was during the chorus when a shrouded dancer moved around Sik-K in a lyrical dance fashion, though we see Sik-K hardly acknowledging her presence near him, playing more and more into the song and its lyrics.
It’s unclear where Sik-K drew his inspiration from for this smooth track, but it is definitely a song that will be added to my fall playlists.
