Throwback Thursday: Coffee Shop Vibes
It’s getting cooler and cooler by the week and it’s beginning to really feel like fall. That means sweater weather, leaves changing colors, and heading to your local coffee shop to grab a warm drink for the cool weather. This week’s Throwback Thursday is all centered around the theme of coffee! Often when going to coffee shops/cafes the music tends to be soft and soothing, and the songs listed this week not only involve coffee-related words in either their titles or music videos, but they are perfect for the coffee shop setting as well!
“Caffeine” - Yoseob
Kicking off this week is HIGHLIGHT’s Yang Yoseob with his first ever solo release, “Caffeine.” When it comes to caffeine, one of the first things you instantly think of is coffee. It comes as no surprise that Yoseob would feature several items that would relate to coffee. Whether it was him brewing the coffee himself or the smoke that represents steam from the piping hot beverage, coffee is always present throughout the entire music video. If you thought that this song would be positive and bright, think again, as this song is more emotional and heartbreaking. To Yoseob, the person of interest is like caffeine that is addicting and actually bad for him. Although coffee tastes good, there are some drawbacks to it in the sense that when withdrawal kicks in after stopping, it can have negative effects. Caffeine can also cause the chest to hurt, and this love interest is only hurting him in the end. Although this is a rather sad song, there is an air of smoothness from the choreography and the vocals from Yoseob that you can’t help but be drawn into.
“Americano” - 10cm
Considerably one of their most popular songs that they have released thus far, 10cm’s “Americano” will give you that happy and instantaneous vibe that coffee brings you. Looking for a song that will put a spring in your step? Then 10cm’s “Americano” is just for you! The song has more of a spring vibe to it but it can be played year-round thanks to its catchy and upbeat sound and lyrics. Beware, once listening to the song, it will most likely be stuck in your head for quite some time.
“Coffee/Caffe Latte” - Urban Zakapa
We simply couldn’t end this week without highlighting Urban Zakapa’s “Caffe Latte” as this song is one of the best songs to listen to while either at a cafe or having a nicely brewed cup of coffee. For veteran group Urban Zakapa, “Caffe Latte” is one of their well-known songs. This acoustic ballad will for sure bring some warmth into your cold day thanks to their soothing vocals. A lot of Urban Zakapa’s songs are fit for the coffee shop setting and if you haven’t had the chance to get into them or listen to their other tracks, I highly recommend that you give them a shot! Did you also know that BTS released their own rendition of “Caffe Latte” by keeping the chorus the same as the original, but putting their own BTS flair to it? Definitely give their version a listen, as well!
