Transition Into Fall with LOCO’s “It Takes Time”

Entering autumn means leaving summer memories behind, and for many, that transition symbolizes an unwanted but inevitable change. In AOMG rapper LOCO’s “It Takes Time (시간이 들겠지)” featuring Colde, the aftereffects of a failed relationship leave him internally struggling to find his footing again.

While the music video and lyrics specifically refer to a romantic relationship, this mellow track is adaptable for anyone who is recovering from a saddening experience, or coping with seasonal depression during this time of the year. The simplistic melody and LOCO’s sing-rapping make it easy for anyone to empathize with his sentiment.

The music video compiles snippets of flashbacks that reference fragments of LOCO’s life right before, during, and after the eventual breakup—all of which LOCO is revealing to us through his recorder. We see him floating through his birthdays, immune to the life that’s going on around him despite the support of his friends who’ve been there throughout the years. It succinctly depicts the way many people live their lives: hoping that the time that passes means a day closer to full recovery. Time can feel like it’s at a standstill when waiting for peace to come, and LOCO expresses the frustration that can build up when nothing seems to change.

Colde momentarily interjects with his soothing voice that just has a nostalgic tone to it. LOCO’s verses gradually build with impatience to get better, but Colde’s bridge literally turns back time—as symbolized by the ticking clock and the rewound scenes—with the hopeful realization that the only way to know if he’ll see this person again is to let time pass.

“It Takes Time” is a bittersweet track that precedes LOCO’s impending military enlistment. If we learned anything from the song, we’ll eventually recover from the news, and we’ll get to see LOCO again as long as we let this time pass.
