Throwback Thursday: Female Power Anthems Revisited
A year ago, we mentioned some of the best female power anthems that are here to empower and uplift women and girls all around. This week we are revisiting some more female power anthems that will boost your confidence and energy. Don’t be afraid to strut your stuff and show everyone you’re a boss! Like the ladies listed this week, we love a confident and self-loving queen and we are here rooting for you and all women around the world.
“Gucci” - Jessi
When it comes to Jessi, you know that she is very much an outspoken, confident lady boss. She is one of the fiercest solo rappers in the K-Pop/K-Hip-Hop realm and once “Gucci” comes on, you know that Jessi did not come to play any games. “Gucci” has a heavy and addictive bass that will make you get up on your feet and dance along, and we all can agree that Jessi looks great in every outfit she wears throughout the music video. “Gucci” is all about living that confident, lavish lifestyle and paying no mind to what others have to say. Jessi reminds us that people do not define us, but rather ourselves and we must embrace it.
“The Baddest Female” - CL
Another queen worth mentioning this week is CL with her song, “The Baddest Female.” Marking her first ever solo release, CL rolled out the red carpet to let the world know that yes, the baddest female has come and show us that we weren’t ready for all this charisma and confidence. We have gotten glimpses of CL’s solo work in 2NE1 albums, prior to her solo release. It came as no surprise that she was going to go in the direction of rap for her solo debut (but let’s not forget that she’s an amazing vocalist, as well). “The Baddest Female” is the type of song to put on when you’re ready to go out or when you’re hanging out with your closest friends and you want to feel unstoppable. Mixing the glam and the grit, CL shows that ladies can be a boss and a classy lady. Who says you can’t be both?
“Roll Deep” - HyunA
Closing out this week’s Throwback Thursday is none other than HyunA’s “Roll Deep.” We couldn’t end without mentioning this queen who isn’t afraid to push the envelope with her risque, sexy, and sensual releases. “Roll Deep” is another song all about confidence and feeling yourself (in the case of HyunA, she’s definitely feeling herself). When she walks into the room, she knows that she commands the attention and all eyes are on her. Like Jessi and CL, she is an unstoppable force that exudes charm, charisma, and confidence. Play HyunA’s “Roll Deep” when you need that extra boost of confidence—whether it be going in for a presentation, a meeting, going to work, or going out to have fun. Like HyunA, you have the power to command the attention of others and take charge for yourself.
