B-Sides: Staff Picks Part 3
The staff here at The Kraze is composed of a unique group of people with different tastes in music and different favorites among K-Pop groups and songs. This week we asked some of the members to share their favorite B-Sides from their favorite groups.
Sab Ali, Editor/Writer: “Dead Leaves” - BTS
There's no other way to describe this song other than stunning and artistic. Right off the bat, the instrumentals and Jungkook's adlibs will send butterflies into your stomach. The song's progression is full of emotion, heard in the angsty raps and especially in Jimin's raspy high notes. It’s definitely a prized gem from BTS's repertoire. No one can doubt the musical talent of the group with a track like this.
Jay Ventinilla, Writer/Promoter: “Into Your World (Angel)” - EXO
This particular song is off of EXO’s debut mini-album MAMA and is such a sweet track. This song was featured in all the members’ individual teaser videos, leaving a big impression on viewers. "Into Your World (Angel)” is a light R&B ballad with great dynamic use of instrumentals that perfectly complements the members’ vocals. This particular song cemented EXO as a group to look out for in the future.
Annika Brandes, Editor/Promoter: “21” - DEAN
Off of his debut album 130 Mood: TRBL, this track is an absolute R&B hit. It's a groovy, flirty little tune. The way the beat breaks down is fit for some major body rolling, and DEAN’s silky voice just seduces any person towards the dance floor. Any song off of this album could've been the title track, but "21" especially deserves more attention.
Haley Whisennand, Marketing Director: “Love Me Do” - VIXX
“Love Me Do” is such a crazy perfect song to represent VIXX. It's groovy and a jam, but it isn't super high intensity and doesn't try to be ultra charismatic. It's laid back and comfortable to listen to, all the while making you bob your head or tap your foot to the beat. It's a perfect example of how Jellyfish Entertainment's main boys constantly set themselves apart from the rest of the K-Pop crowd.
Heba Emad, Web Manager: “Lost” - BTS
Part of BTS's successful album WINGS, this song is sung exclusively by the vocal line, and while it has no rap parts, it definitely has a refreshing beat. The reason I love this song is because besides its great instrumental, the lyrics give hope and assurance that being lost is not the end of the world. On the contrary, the group communicates that it's normal to get lost and, with time, find your own way.
