Rookie Group BSS Hits The Stage
What comes to mind when you think of the group SEVENTEEN? For me, it’s energy. SEVENTEEN is a group of various charms (from vocal to rap and even dance, they don’t lack anything!), but their positive energy is equally superior. Coming back with a surprise release, Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi say “Just Do it” to the world with enthusiasm for their debut as special sub-unit group, 부석순 (BOOSEOKSOON).
Here Comes BSS (부석순)
BSS (부석순), a name slightly strange, yet, familiar.
The sub-unit name is a combination of all the members’ birth names: Boo Seungkwan, Lee Seokmin, and Kwon Soonyoung. Formed during SEVENTEEN’s pre-debut AfreecaTV days, this group maintained the name and fame among their fans. Although loved by fans for their eagerness and positive vibes, no one ever thought about an official debut by the three boys. However, as unexpected this unit group debut was, BSS definitely pumped up the mood with their new single “Just Do It.”
The performance video seemed as it was recorded from SEVENTEEN’s fanmeeting in CARATLAND early this year. With neat costumes and expressive gestures, BSS clearly showed off their energy, a perfect match with the song. Their performance, although not as charismatic as SEVENTEEN’s choreography, contained point movements that represented the song’s main theme to act upon your wishes and desires. Check out the special clip released on 1theK’s channel featuring the energetic boys to lighten up your mood!
“Just Do It” is a song full of positivity that gives words of encouragement to listeners. Fellow SEVENTEEN member Woozi once again proved his skills through his participation in the track as a music producer. The guitar riffs carried out throughout the whole song established an exciting rhythm—it’s hard to remain sitting with this upbeat song!
The lyrics, written by Seungkwan, DK, Hoshi, and Woozi, emphasized on the freedom of life. Revolving around the concept of confidence, the group conveys the message to live boldly. Using honest and blunt expressions, BSS performed the track in a clever way (I just couldn’t get “Fried or seasoned chicken” out of my head!). The vocals and rapping were on point; I mean, if it were not for BSS, when can you see Rapper Boo on stage?
Surprising many with the single “Just Do It,” BSS re-established their status as an officially debuted sub-unit. Slightly differing from their original style of music yet keeping the same upbeat vibe, this debut turned out to be successful and satisfactory. With their continuous attempt at a wide spectrum of genres and challenges, SEVENTEEN rose to be one of the leading idols of the Hallyu Wave. As much as they have grown over the three-year period, they have become figures of respect for many. Now providing their fans energy to help them get through their daily life, BSS’s Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi speak supportive words through “Just Do It.” As they say, “Keep walking / Keep running / Keep flying” until you reach your goal!
