iKON Drops Their New Single “Rubber Band”
Following up with a new single after their successful comeback album Return, iKON’s “Rubber Band” came as a pleasant surprise to fans.

With a unique set of sounds setting a lively mood on the stage, iKON definitely heightens the bright atmosphere. B.I starts off the track with his usual distinctive voice, repeating the title “Rubber Band” and successfully getting another hook stuck in my head (seriously, “Love Scenario” and now “Rubber Band”? Come on, B.I, give us a break!). The vocal line shows off their melodious voices; Ju-ne, Chan, Song, DK, and Jay’s vocals are really something, bringing a slight sentimentality despite the bright mood. And of course, the rap line has BOBBY and B.I—with their clear diction and tone of voice, they make it easier for the listener to get into the song without focusing too much on the hip-hop spirit brought by the rappers.
In contrast to the happy mood, the group compares an unstable relationship to a rubber band. At first glance, it’s kind of difficult to identify the meaning of the song. The lyrics say it all, though; a story established from start to finish, the boys sing and rap about a relationship coming to an end.
They compare the rising tension between the lovers with the tension of a rubber band that can snap at any time. The repeated lyrics of “Only because of our attachment, we’re dangerously enduring” clearly shows how much distance has formed between the two lovers. In the end, they fail to hold on to each other, resulting in one letting the other go free.
The boys talk about how their love was a relationship of unforgettable memories and now with one last farewell, they mark an end to this love. iKON is for sure one of the top groups when it comes to talking about such a heartbreaking topic in such an exciting way!
A similar vibe to the songs from their most recent album Return, “Rubber Band” marks the beginning of another era and iKON’s return to the music industry.
