Yoona Brings the Sweet Times of Jeju “To You” in Newest Collaboration

It’s been eight months since Yoona has graced us with her artistry in the form of a released track, and it’s totally worth it. The Girls’ Generation member last released “When the Wind Blows” under SM Station, singing the soft ballad in Korean and Chinese. She returns now with collaboration single “To You (너에게),” with lyrics penned by her and the track composed and arranged by Lee Sangsoon. The story behind the track is a cute one, with the song composed on the set of Hyori’s Homestay Season 2 in which Lee Hyori and her husband Lee Sangsoon host celebrity guests in their bed and breakfast on the beautiful island of Jeju.

“To You (너에게)”

Beginning with a moving piano melody, Yoona’s voice carefully enters the scene. The song feels like a lullaby, with Yoona’s vocals softly filling the gaps between the piano keys. It’s somewhat bittersweet, reflecting over the past yet leaving listeners to sigh along. The light breeze and comforting crashing of the ocean waves are heard alongside the track, greatly contributing to the light ambiance of the song. A guitar, played by Sangsoon, easily switches places with Yoona’s voice, suddenly increasing the pace yet maintaining its peacefulness. The peak of the song is reached as Sangsoon’s soft accompaniment joins with Yoona’s chorus. Yoona’s soft voice fits the track perfectly, and although a seasoned veteran in the music industry, her soft tone and elegant demeanor are reminiscent of the purity seen in novices.

Throughout the music video, the lyrics appear on the screen, poetry-like with their simplicity. With pastel greens and bright blues ranging throughout the music video, the scenery is a sight for sore eyes. Towards the conclusion of the music video, the shifting from smooth scenes to shuttered images reflects their memories fading into that of a projector.
