Secrets to Curing Body Acne

Since it is summer time, we have to get ready for our summer bodies, but there is one problem. I have acne not only on my face, but also on my body! How do I get rid of it? Well, I will provide you with some tips that can decrease the amount of acne on your body and face.

Exfoliating Too Much

Everyone says exfoliating is good for the skin because it gets deep into the pores to clear out all of the dirt and bacteria. BUT! You shouldn’t exfoliate every day because then you will strip the natural oils from your skin, which causes your body to produce more oil and sebum to compensate for your dry skin. Exfoliating too much will cause your pores to be filled with dirt and bacteria, causing acne. Therefore, you should exfoliate at MAX once a week to clean out your pores in your face and body. A product for exfoliating the face would be SKINFOOD’s Black Sugar Mask Wash Off and a product for exfoliating the body would the The Body Shop’s Exfoliating Glove.

Cleansing Properly

You have to ensure that you are cleaning your body thoroughly while in the shower. Also, if you are wearing makeup, you have to remember to double cleanse to make sure that the makeup is fully wiped off so it won’t clog your pores in the future. The best ingredient for fighting acne that is commonly found in cleansers is salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is recommended by many dermatologists because it is the best at exfoliating, cleaning, clearing, and preventing acne on your face and body. One important point, which hopefully is part of everyone’s daily routine, is that you should shower once a day, especially after going to the gym, to wash off the dirt and bacteria collected throughout the day. A body wash/soap that I recommend is Klairs Manuka Honey & Choco Body Soap.

EW! Sweat!

Since it is summer, the weather is hot and humid, so you have to make sure that you take certain measures after going out all day. If you don’t shower before bed, then your body will be lying in the dirt and sweat that was collected all day. Also, make sure that you wash your clothes after you sweat in them because if you wear them again, there is a chance that the bacteria on your clothes will eventually clog your pores. Here is another important tip! Wearing looser and lighter clothes allows your skin and pores to breathe during the day which cools down the body.

Proper Treatment

Lastly, don’t forget to apply sunscreen before being exposed to the sun because long exposure can cause the skin to burn and dry out. Your skin will then produce excess amounts of unneeded oil and sebum, which can cause acne and pimples all over your body. There are also many types of acne treatment creams that are available not only for the face, but for the body as well. Most importantly, do NOT pop your pimples! I know it is tempting, but if you don’t pop a pimple properly, bacteria can get into your scar and leave a mark, or even worse, more pimples. A sunscreen that I recommend for people who wear makeup is Supergoop’s 100% Mineral Invincible Setting Powder. An acne treatment I would recommend for reducing pimples would be Medicube’s Red Spot Cream and COSRx’s Centella Blemish Cream.
