B-side Summer Bops Part 3: Evening Events

Summer is in full swing these days with nights lasting longer and days getting hotter. It’s vacation time, with schools out and many of those at work taking leisure time to rest and recuperate from the daily grind. What better way to celebrate this time of year than with a playlist of the best bops for your summer escapades? This week, we’re focusing on awesome tracks to ring in an evening on the beach.

“Airplane Pt. 2” - BTS

BTS’s latest album promoted two additional tracks alongside the title, and the chill “Airplane Pt. 2” is one of those new additions. “Airplane Pt. 2” has a Caribbean vibe that lends itself perfectly to a summer beach night, with a much more relaxing sound compared to many of BTS’s other releases. Nothing will quite get you feeling like sipping on a fruity drink while watching the sunset like this track!

“What is Love” - EXO

An early release from huge boy group EXO, “What is Love” is a warm ballad with a sensual, romantic vibe featuring vocalists Baekhyun and D.O. It’s easy to imagine falling in love on the beach to the tune of this track, which leaves a lasting impression on the listener.

“Mine” - GOT7

Off of 2015 mini-album Just Right, GOT7’s “Mine” is a dance track that somehow encompasses the high-energy EDM beat while simultaneously embodying more tranquil elements in the vocals over the main melody. “Mine” is one of GOT7’s most catchy releases to date, and the lower tones in both the rap and vocal portions give it an evening out kind of feel.

“Moonlight” - JBJ

As the title suggests, JBJ’s “Moonlight” is a romantic, sweet track that will leave you falling in love with these boys. The reggae-influenced beat is a perfect fit for the beach life in addition to the warm, sentimental lyrics fitting a sunset watch party. It feels almost as if JBJ is whisking you away to a lovely beach for an evening confession.

“Tropical Night” - MONSTA X

Who wouldn’t want to have these soft, cute boys on their evening beach playlist? MONSTA X’s “Tropical Night” is aptly named and a perfect fit for this theme, though it adds an interesting element in that the tempo of the song speeds up at the chorus, while remaining fairly soft and rhythmic through the verses. Turn up the evening energy with this track!
