iKON Says “I’M OK” in New Music Video
In a long-awaited release, iKON brings us to our knees once again with another emotional track. The music video for “I’M OK” and the accompanying album were released on January 7 as part of the new repackaged album, and has been the latest addition to The Kraze team’s playlist.
The Song
“I’M OK” begins with B.I. and his vocals over a piano-based melody that brings the melancholy feel of the song. It’s immediately followed by the addition of a base line that you can clearly hear, and the drum and snare which make it seem like an old school ballad interlaced with smooth rap verses. Overall, the song gives off vibes similar to their previous release “Killing Me.” This song would make good background music for a party or for lounging about the house, and its mood can really blend well into any playlist for any occasion. The melancholy ballad feel makes it a song that everyone can get into. The lyrics of the song are almost pure Korean, except for the chorus where the songs title “I’M OK” is used to catch the listener’s ear no matter what language you speak.
The Music Video
The colors in the music video are one of the first things you notice, as they all seem muted like a cloud is obscuring them to prevent them from becoming vivid. The video starts out with a car that is ablaze and transitions into dark tones with lots of blues and blacks, plus the occasional pops of red and white. The members are all costumed in colors that could be described as gloomy and muted. The sets did allow for a variety of moods, with some members being in a tunnel, others in rooms filled with balloons or even a room filled with TVs. The camera angles were a nice mix of up close face shots that allowed us to see the emotion in their faces and full body wide shots that allowed for the body's movement to give more to the feeling of the music video.
Overall, this song is a nice sound that I have come to expect from iKON over the last few releases. This tone of song fits well into the other songs that have been repackaged for this album.
