Kang Daniel Plays The Noir Hero in His MV for “Touchin’”

In his first release since his solo debut in July, Kang Daniel dropped a digital EP titled “Touchin.” The track gives a similar groovy feel that has become Kang Daniels’ signature sound.

The music video starts with an old school one room apartment complete with the ugly couch and outdated television. Daniel picks an old VHS tape and pops it into the player, causing static to play. Once he slumps back down on the couch dressed in comfy clothes for a lazy day he hits play and the logo for KONNECT Entertainment appears before launching into the actual music video. The setting for the music video is an old school spy noir film. The first scenes introduce the character, where we learn that Daniel is, of course, the hero, with his cat Kong 2 makes an appearance as well. The scenes alternate between the music video, which is black and white, and Daniel watching the movie in full color. About a minute before the end of the music video, Daniel appears again in full color, spaced out as he watches the hero (himself) get shot in the film. He pauses it right before it happens and discovers he has poured tabasco sauce all over his pizza and down his sweatshirt, adding a bit of humor before the song and the music video ends. Once he’s cleaned himself up he hits play again, showing the final dance scene of the video. While movie viewer Daniel is dressed in an oversized hoodie and lounge shirt, movie Daniel is dressed In a nicely cut suit with slicked back hair adding to the overall naturally charismatic look.

The song on the other hand has a playful jazzy sound that fits into the current flavor of Kang Daniel’s music. The melody is piano based with the occasional guitar riff. The verses are simple with just a single line being played. However, the chorus is what's going to get stuck in your head. The lyrics “Touchin’ like we know each other,” is sung over a beat that will get you up and dancing. The song is one you might start humming without even realizing it. This is a solid song for his first comeback and we cannot wait to see what Kang Daniel does next.
