Throwback Thursday: Best of N.Flying

Rap-rock fusion band N.Flying has been hitting it big lately with tracks like “Rooftop” and “Good Bam,” but the wildly eccentric and even more wildly talented group has been dropping hits since their original debut in Japan all the way back in 2013. So get ready to rock because for this week’s Throwback Thursday—The Kraze is taking a look back at some of N.Flying’s best.

“The Real”

2017’s “The Real” is the lead single off of the band’s second mini-album THE REAL : N.Flying. The album is the first to feature Hweseung, who at the time was the newest member. “The Real” is an unbelievably upbeat song about falling for someone that has one of the most hilarious and entertaining music videos. In the video, the members are seen adrift on a boat in the ocean, only to stumble upon a stunning mermaid that ultimately leads to the band using poor new maknae Hweseung as bait. Be sure to wait for the plot twist at the end!

“Lonely”

A softer take from the band in 2015, “Lonely” comes off the band’s first single album by the same name. Opening with a sorrowful solo piano, “Lonely” is the quintessential breakup song laced with just the right amount of bitterness. Seunghyub’s talents as both a singer and rapper shine brightly in this sad song, made all the better when set against Hun’s forlorn vocals.

“Hot Potato”

N.Flying’s single “Hot Potato” from 2018 garnered the band attention for various reasons. First, the song is a tongue-in-cheek take on the fame that comes along with being a member of an attractive band. Second, the idea to compare stardom to a hot potato is equal parts eyebrow-raising and genius. Third, as an homage to the song, the group personally created literal potato lightsticks for the fans. It’s legitimately impossible to not enjoy “Hot Potato.”
