Yubin Returns With Fall Single, “Start of the End”
Former Wonder Girls-member-gone-solo Yubin is back with another single for fans to enjoy! Titled “Start of the End,” Yubin offers two new songs that are fit for the cool autumn season. Around this time, many are either getting into relationships or getting out of them. Yubin’s latest single is meant for those in the latter category, as the songs are more about heartbreak and stepping away from love. Though the songs are a bit darker in theme, Yubin still brings an upbeat R&B/jazz feel that gives a refreshing feeling to the current mix of comebacks and releases.
Her featured track, “Silent Movie,” brings the two genres together to elicit quite the nostalgic feeling, but it’s a song that one can surprisingly groove along despite being about no longer being able to communicate or share a connection with a partner. There is both a longing and a sense of sadness related to wanting to reach out to continue this fading relationship. “Silent Movie” also features veteran singer and rapper Yoonmirae, whose sweet vocals perfectly complement Yubin’s huskier tone.
The music video for “Silent Movie” takes it back to the 1940s and 50s, featuring fashion and set pieces reminiscent of the eras. Comedian Park Narae is the main focus of the music video as she goes through the motions of a love story coming to an end. Yubin is also present throughout the video portraying a side character watching the story play out. It’s the attention to small details like adding subtitles whenever a character speaks that give charm to the video; it’s aesthetically pleasing and will leave a lasting impression. All in all, Yubin’s latest single is a great addition to the fall season of comebacks.
