B-Sides: The Boyz [Anniversary Special]
There’s another reason to celebrate this festive season. With December 6 marking the second debut anniversary of The Boyz, it is the right time to refresh your playlist with some of the group’s B-sides. Here we give you four handpicked B-side tracks of The Boyz to tune in to while enjoying your weekday.
“Only One”
The first track on the playlist, “Only One,” is from their third mini-album THE ONLY. With Haknyeon and Sunwoo introducing us to the track with their deep voices, the song flows as a bright song with Sangyeon and Hyunjae’s spirited vocals. The lyrics center on the concept of love as the members sing the chorus, “you are the only one, you are my world.” With tender beats and rhythm, the song is pleasant and light. The pleasure continues as the listeners get to hear the occasional low verses of Haknyeon and pretty rap verses from Hwall, Sunwoo, and Eric gracing the track.
“Complete Me”
“Complete Me,” from their latest mini-album DREAM LIKE, tunes in as a retro-pop track. With a blend of electro and disco beats, the song makes every listener sway to the rhythm. The vocal line, known for their gentle vocals, keep up the good work as the rappers get a chance to flash snippets of both fast and slow raps. The members showcase their bright flower boy sides while calling out to their fans singing, “please hold me” and “please heal me,” wanting The Bs by their side to feel complete. Though being a less catchy track, the song is sure to cause a smile when played.
“4EVER”
Another track from the mini-album THE ONLY is an R&B track that serves as a promise between the group and their fans. The sweet-sounding song moves every listener with the very first listen, as the members promise to stay together forever. As New and Kevin begin the verse, “Our meeting broke the ice, like a sprout shooting up. I’m always there for you,” the song continues to be a slow-paced lullaby with gentle verses and a delightful chorus. Adding up to the comforting lyrics, the song is equally catchy and keeps us humming, “4Ever, you are my everlasting love,” while feeling loved.
“Clover”
“Clover,” from their 2019 single album BLOOM BLOOM, is a refreshing song that lifts up the mood of every listener and keeps them energized. As their album deals with the theme of spring, the B-side compares their fans to a four-leafed clover, which brings miracles and luck. The lyrics talk about the feeling of spring after getting into a relationship for the first time. With high spirits of blooming spring, the members keep up the peppy mood with lively vocals singing, “You’re my luck.” The song can be sung by either the group or their fans as a way to cherish the time they have spent together.
