Throwback Thursday: Feel Good Songs
With the dreary days of winter in full swing, it can be easy to feel down in the dumps. Here at The Kraze we fight off the winter blues with some of the most upbeat K-Pop songs around! So do you need a little boost? If so, check out this pick-me-up playlist below!
“Baby” - ASTRO
Starting things off is ASTRO’s “Baby” from 2017. In all honesty, the majority of the group’s discography is infectiously happy and that made it hard to pick just one song; however, their summer hit from mini-album Dream Part.01 takes the cake here. Between its bright sound, the literally bubbly concept, and ASTRO’s unparalleled choreography, “Baby” is hard not to enjoy. Besides let’s be real, who can resist smiling along with Cha Eunwoo’s intro in the video?
“Bubble Pop!” - HyunA
Kicking things up a notch, we have HyunA’s iconic “Bubble Pop!” from 2011. HyunA has always been unapologetically herself and no song promotes this better than “Bubble Pop!” as she sings of refusing to change herself to fit the standards of others. On top of its great message, the chorus of this song is impossible to not get stuck in your head. Just try not to bop along—we dare you.
“Yes I am” - MAMAMOO
What’s a feel-good playlist without a power anthem? 2017 brought us MAMAMOO’s Purple mini-album and with it, one of the most empowering songs in K-Pop. “Yes I am” is an ode to self-confidence with Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa each singing of owning what some might view as their own individual faults. It’s a very strong message for such a visual-heavy industry, and who better to deliver it than one of the most powerful vocal groups? If you’re ever feeling down about yourself, just one listen to this song will remind you you’re invincible.
“Just do it” - BOOSEOKSOON (SEVENTEEN)
Need someone to cheer you on? Look no further than “Just do it,” the 2018 digital single from SEVENTEEN’s sub-unit BOOSEOKSOON. SEVENTEEN’s three moodmakers, Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi, bring an incredibly upbeat and bright feeling with this song featuring a bold guitar rhythm. Emphasizing the importance of living without hesitation, this song will inspire you to live your best life whether you want fried or seasoned chicken.
“DANCE DANCE” - DAY6
Rounding out this mood-boosting playlist is the ever-enthusiastic DAY6 with their 2017 release “DANCE DANCE.” Simply put, this song is about as energetic and carefree as it gets with the boys urging listeners to leave their worries and inhibitions behind and just...dance. The music video is just as fun as the track—if not better—and features the five members being the dorks we know and love. Even just the first opening seconds of the music video with Dowoon’s smile will brighten your darkest days.
