B-Sides: Car Blasting Anthems

Matching up with our sister column Throwback Thursday of last week, this week’s B-Sides is looking to celebrate the blooming warm weather with the best tracks to blast from the car on the next lovely spring day. We all enjoy turning up the volume and going off to our favorite songs, especially while on the road, but these B-sides rise above the rest for their perfect blast-ability. You’re sure to turn some heads from passing cars with these anthems.

“Whiplash” - NCT 127

NCT 127 is known for their stellar B-sides, and “Whiplash” is definitely one of the fan favorites. Featuring members Taeyong, Mark, Taeil, and Jaehyun, “Whiplash” has an infectious beat that can get anyone moving, even that person sitting next to your car in traffic. And if you don’t believe me about the power of this song, just watch the live performance of the track from KCON NY last year.

“Papi” - f(x)

f(x) is a group that is almost synonymous with the rise of summer, with many years of hits during the warm months. “Papi” is a track off of their latest album 4 Walls, with a relentless EDM beat that accentuates the vocal talents of the girls. The beat in “Papi” is very traditionally house, which makes it stand out from most K-Pop songs. It’ll be impossible to not feel the need to sing this track at the top of your lungs when it comes on.

“Rewind” - GOT7

Bouncing back to the Fly era, GOT7’s “Rewind” may be one of the best songs off of Flight Log: Departure. A song composed and written by Youngjae, “Rewind” is an absolute banger that has a bolero effect in the melody, building up tension from the first verse into the chorus. It has a different formula from the group’s usual songs, which helps make it stand out as well.

“Catch Me if You Can” - Girls’ Generation

Girls’ Generation has done it all throughout their expansive career, but “Catch Me if You Can” was certainly one of their more out-there releases in comparison to their usual M.O. The heavy EDM beat adds an intense air to the melody, and mixing that with the traditional pop elements often seen in the group’s releases makes for a totally contagious track that is impossible not to blast at full volume.

“Queen” - MONSTA X

Many of MONSTA X’s songs fit perfectly for car blasting, and “Queen” is definitely one of those songs. With a driving beat that starts at the very beginning of the track and doesn’t relent through the entirety of the song, it’s the perfect song for going hard. On top of that, the chorus is particularly catchy and helps to build up energy.
