Throwback Thursday: New Years’ Resolutions Pt. 3

Take a peek at any given person’s bucket list and you’re bound to see a couple travel goals. There are few things as invigorating or as eye-opening as traveling the world and, lucky for us travel enthusiasts, K-Pop offers some of the best background music. So pack your bags and hit the road or the skies as this week’s Throwback Thursday helps your travel dreams come true.

“Travel” - Bolbbalgan4

One of Korea’s most beloved songs in 2018, Bolbbalgan4’s “Travel” is the title track from the indie duo’s Red Diary Page.2. In a fashion that shocked no one, the free-spirited song topped Korean music charts with ease and made countless people crave to leave their houses in favor of fresh air and sunshine to chase the seemingly endless possibilities one can only find while traveling.

“Airplane pt. 2” - BTS

A follow-up to rapper J-Hope’s previously released “Airplane,” BTS’s “Airplane pt. 2” comes off the group’s record-breaking album Love Yourself: Tear. Between Latin-infused piano riffs and enough travel destinations to satisfy any level of wanderlust, BTS spins their own musical tale of traveling the world as musicians by comparing themselves to a mariachi band.

“Solo Day” - B1A4

B1A4 released their song “Solo Day” in 2014 as the lead title off their fifth mini-album of the same name. Though not directly about travel, the uplifting song urges listeners to focus on the good things in life—most importantly, good, old-fashioned “me time!” Not to mention, the song’s carefree opening whistle will have you wanting to cruise with your windows rolled down to the nearest beach.

“Ride on the wind” - KARD

There’s something about KARD’s music that makes you want to seize the day, and 2018’s “Ride on the wind” is no exception. Though the song is about falling in love, the lyrics talk about going with the flow of a situation instead of getting bogged down by the little details of life. Traveling is all about freedom, so what better way to live freely than by riding the wind with KARD?

“Holiday” - SEVENTEEN

Sometimes you just need an escape from the humdrum of everyday life and this B-side from SEVENTEEN is the perfect bop to help you get away! “Holiday” is the final song off the boy group’s You Make My Day mini-album and compares being in love to an endless vacation. The special music video released for the track was directed by member Wonwoo and shows the boys on their own adventures abroad in Los Angeles.
