Fall Vibes B-Sides

Now that the weather is starting to turn colder and chilly nights are here, it’s time to get comfortable on the couch, wrap yourself up in your favorite blanket, and listen to some B-Sides that embrace the fall vibes.

“Scarecrow” by LEE HI

“Scarecrow” by LEE HI was released back in 2013, but the track stands as a beautiful autumn listen. This soft ballad is about being left behind as everybody else around you moves on, like a scarecrow after the crops it protected have been harvested. The verses are soft, but the best part of the track is towards the end when LEE HI is joined by a choir and the tempo picks up. If you like to take long, thoughtful walks to clear your head, then this track is the perfect fit.

“Fall” by EXO

“Fall” is off of EXO’s Universe and while the track isn’t talking about the season of fall but rather falling into memories of a past love, the track and concept photos definitely fit the season. The concept photos have the members in warm colors holding steaming cups of coffee and the track starts out with a beautiful acoustic guitar before synthesizers and a snapping sound join in. This track is perfect for curling up on the couch and watching as the leaves fall outside your window. Just make sure you’ve got a cup of your favorite warm beverage with you!

“Autumn Morning” by IU

While it’s a remake of Yang Hee-eun’s slightly somber 1991 track, IU’s “Autumn Morning” is a beautiful—and peppier—homage to the original. The first minute where it’s just IU’s voice as she sings about waking up on an autumn morning creates a similar feel to when you first wake up and everything is silent, leaving just you and your thoughts. Something else interesting is how the lyrics feel like a stream of consciousness, with the chorus fitting in as part of that stream. It’s different and paints a vivid picture of fall.

“WITH U” by ATEEZ

“WITH U” is a soft piano track off of ATEEZ’s first full-length album, TREASURE EP.FIN: All To Action. The track is about wanting to be with the one they love and walking alongside them but being unable to, with the lyrics focusing around a time when they’re apart and the boys only have the memories and promises to look back on. The track keeps the same tempo throughout, making it feel like the promise of reuniting makes everything worth it. There’s also a certain warmth that the song evokes by keeping everything simple and unrushed.
