Throwback Thursday: October Comeback Edition
Chances are if there’s a group you stan, they’re making a comeback this month. Everyone from the industry’s reigning groups to monster rookies and seasoned soloists seems to be releasing something this month. Check out some of our past favorites from these groups below and get ready for their new music to drop in the coming weeks!
“Genie” - Golden Child
In 2018, Golden Child returned with their third mini-album WISH and in turn released “Genie.” At the time, the boys were still fresh-faced rookies and their sound reflected as much, with the cheerful vibes of “Genie” brightening the later months of 2018.
“Critical Beauty” - PENTAGON
Both PENTAGON and DAWN are making comebacks this October, so what better way to celebrate than with an OT10 song? The summer of 2017 saw the group release their 1960s-influenced song “Critical Beauty.” Invoking the feels of Elvis, the boys brought the perfect amount of funk to summer.
“Super Special” - VERIVERY
VERIVERY’s predebut track “Super Special” was released in September 2018. It served as the OST for their Mnet reality show “Now Verivery: Real Road Movie” and though it was not the official debut of the group—that would come later in 2019 with “Ring Ring Ring”—the track showcased the 90s-inspired tone that would become the group’s signature sound.
“Mind Your Own Business” - Ailee
Power vocalist Ailee is making her triumphant return this fall, but in fall 2015 she released her first full-length album Vivid along with the title track “Mind Your Business.” Bursting with attitude and stunning vocals, Ailee proved that she was here to stay as one of K-Pop’s reigning vocal queens.
“Hi High” - LOONA
LOONA’s “Hi High” served as the title track for their first mini-album as a full group, + +. Released in 2018 with an unbelievable amount of anticipation, the album garnered many accomplishments. In addition to peaking at No. 2 on the Gaon Album Chart, + + ended 2018 as one of the top-selling girl group albums.
“Beautiful Target” - B1A4
The dulcet tones of B1A4 made a comeback with “Beautiful Target” in 2011. The upbeat pop track led the group’s second mini-album It B1A4 with a fun and quirky music video to match. Almost ten years later, the boys of B1A4 are returning with just as much of an in-your-face concept if their zombie-themed comeback trailer is anything to judge by.
