Not only are the MAMAs a time to recognize and celebrate a variety of K-Idols, it is also a time for artists to show off their style and music to the world. Even though the artists were unable to perform in front of a live audience this year, they still brought unique stages and styles for their MAMA performances this year. Let’s take a look at some styles that K-Idols brought to the stage this year.

THE BOYZ X ATEEZ X Stray Kids

A highlight of MAMA this year was the battle for the crown between The Boyz, ATEEZ, and Stray Kids. Each group pulled off their own distinct concept and style for this performance. The Boyz wore elegant all white coordinating looks, ATEEZ gave an edgier concept while wearing all black, and Stray Kids performed a fighting warrior concept while wearing varieties of grunge black and red.

Hwasa

Member of girl group MAMAMOO, Hwasa took her solo stage to the next level. She began the stage in a light blue silk dress while in an eerie background, switching to an all black look topped with a cropped blazer and sheer tights, making it impossible for the audience to look away from her powerful attitude and looks.

SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN brought a classic look to the stage with their performances of “Left & Right'' and “HOME;RUN'' as they took us on a trip through time with their looks. The performance began with ‘90s street style clothing consisting of oversized clothes, varsity jackets, and overalls. When SEVENTEEN began “HOME;RUN,” they quickly made a completely different turn of styles that was more of a classic look that was very reminiscent of old Hollywood, showing the duality of looks that the group flawlessly masters.

TWICE

TWICE brought an ethereal look to the MAMAs with a performance stage stylized as an enchanted forest at night with iridescent plants. The members contrasted this darker forest by wearing bright coordinating white outfits dripping with crystals, making their performances for both “More & More” and “I Can’t Stop Me” magical.

MONSTA X

MONSTA X gave us a classic look of suits varying in dark reds and maroons for their performance of “Love Killa,” perfectly matching the seductive and smooth concept of the song.

GOT7

GOT7 brought a princely charm to MAMA for their performance of “Not By The Moon” and “Last Piece,” as their coordinating outfits consisting of colors of red and black, adorned with gold jewelry and chains, made the stage mesmerizing to watch.

Tomorrow x Together

Tomorrow x Together (TXT) brought a retro feel to their performance as they get sucked into a TV where they become dressed in ‘70s style disco looks consisting of bell bottom pants and sequined blazers. They performed Cho Youngpil’s “Short Hair,” JYP’s “She was Pretty” and BTS’s “Dynamite.”

(G)I-DLE

For (G)I-DLE’s performance of “DUMDi DUMDi,” they gave a tropical background in white with splashes of color. The member’s outfits consisted of varieties of colors, bringing together a refreshing stage that perfectly matches the summertime feel of the song.

BTS

BTS took the MAMA stage by storm as they had unique outfits and stages for every song they performed. Their stage began at Seoul World Cup Stadium with a half-time worthy performance of “ON” while wearing all white military style outfits. For their next song they sang “Dynamite” while wearing retro outfits of black, red, and pastel blue. The performance of “Life Goes On” gave a completely different energy as it was more solemn as the members and all of the background performers wore all white, with fans given a surprise appearance of an AR SUGA who joined the rest of the members on stage.

It was genius of the MAMAs to not only have someone committed to cleaning in between speakers, but having them dress in a silver one piece with a neon green ponytail and accent pieces was definitely an unforgettable moment for this year’s award show.
