Throwback Thursday: K-Indie Vibes
Here for your healthy dose of K-Indie music, Throwback Thursday is back with some indie music recommendations! Check out some of our favorites from past years below.
“5 More Minutes” - Sanchez feat. Beenzino
In 2017, Sanchez, formerly from boy group Phantom, released his single “5 More Minutes.” The romantic R&B track is about not wanting to leave a lover, insisting that five minutes more just isn’t long enough. Definitely on the sultrier side—Sanchez does not beat around the bush in this song—”5 More Minutes” features rapper Beenzino, whose witty verse adds just the right amount of cheekiness to the song.
“4pm” - Sumsher feat. Rex.D
Released as a digital single in 2017, “4pm” by producer Sumsher and featuring rapper Rex.D is an upbeat song about living life at one’s own pace, or more specifically, getting out of bed at 4 p.m. In the song, the artists stress that one’s life choices do not dictate success and instead push the idea that just living life day to day is an accomplishment in itself.
“Night Drive” - Echae en Route
In 2016, indie duo Echae en Route, comprised of violinist Kang Echae and bassist Kwon Okyung, released their single “Night Drive.” The song is a cross-genre experience, with Echae’s light violin set against stark electro-beats. Echae’s huskier voice lends itself well to the mysterious tone of the song, adding another layer to its distinctiveness. There’s no other song like this one.
