Baekhyun’s “Delight” is Sweet Like Candy!
Baekhyun, leader of SuperM and a member of EXO, has finally followed up his 2019 release City Lights. His much anticipated mini album Delight is a sweet and savory collection of pop-infused R&B, showcasing Baekhyun’s impressive vocal range and soulful sound. Working with seasoned producer Adrian McKinnon, a frequent SM collaborator who is known for his work with famous songs like “Jopping” and “Superhuman,” the masterpiece of an album is led with the vibrant single “Candy.”
In his most upbeat and personality driven release to date, the lead single “Candy” is an addictive, colorful track that is accompanied by an exciting, retro inspired music video. The video follows Baekhyun and a dance crew sporting 90s inspired fashion while playing in an arcade, raiding a snack bar, and dancing on a skateboard ramp in a sea of neon lights and spray painted walls. What stands out the most is the impeccable and infectious dancing coupled with Baekhyun’s numerous vocal runs, all while he and the dancers have the time of their lives. “Candy” is a perfect contrast from the mellow and calming vibe we got from previous single “UN Village” and is perfect for summer barbecues and dance parties. You’ll definitely want to watch again and again!
Delight includes 6 other songs after “Candy.” With upbeat and vibey bops like “R U Ridin’?”, “Poppin’,” and “Ghost” and moody love anthems like “Bungee,” “Underwater,” and “Love Again,” Baekhyun takes us through a passionate journey of love and youth and extends his obvious appreciation for old school R&B. If you love “Candy,” you’ll definitely love the rest of the album!
And if you can’t get enough of the dancing, make sure to participate in the “Candy Challenge,” which other idols like Kai, Lucas, and Ten have taken part in!
