LAY Unleashes Steamy Single “JADE (玉)”

Coming in hot with a new single just in time for the summer season, soloist and EXO member LAY has released “JADE (玉)!” This release comes almost a year after his successful Honey EP that was previously released last summer. While there is no music video accompanying “JADE (玉),” fans can expect to be putting this song on blast for quite some time. 

Fusing together traditional Chinese instruments with hip-hop beats, “JADE (玉)” is a sleek track that is easy to vibe with and catchy. Tapping deep into his Chinese roots, the addition of using traditional Chinese instruments and sounds make the song that much more special and one-of-a-kind. Forget diamonds and other precious metals, jade is the focus of the song, as LAY describes one (meaning you, the listener) as being something shiny, unique, and rare. Amongst all the rest, you are the one that stands out the most and LAY has nothing but love and admiration in the lyrics of the song. To add, the pronunciation of jade in Mandarin is “yu” which is a play on words for “you” whom he is speaking of in the song. If there were to be a music video for “JADE (玉),” one can only imagine the amount of jade that would be seen either on set or LAY himself. 

Although this is just a single release, fans can get excited that LAY will be making his full return with his fourth album titled 莲 (LIT) Part 1, which is expected to release on June 1, 2020. While waiting, check out the teaser for “莲 (LIT)” below!
