ASTRO’s Sentimental Summer Single “No, I don’t”
Recent comebacks have seen the bright boys of ASTRO pushing the boundaries when it comes to concepts, but the boy group’s new summer single sees them return to their softer roots. Released on June 28, “No, I don’t,” is a tender song about heartbreak that shows off ASTRO’s vocals.
When it comes to summer music from ASTRO, bold and bubbly songs like “Breathless” and “Baby” might be the first to come to mind. “No, I don’t,” however, is a soft-pop song about having lost touch with a loved one. Members Cha Eunwoo and Jin Jin took part in the writing while Rocky partook in both lyrics and composition; the heavy involvement of the members gives the track a very personal feel, and tonally almost sounds like a softer sequel to May’s “Knock.” Whereas “Knock” sings of desperate searching to maintain a relationship, “No, I don’t” is the sad acceptance that things have changed. On top of atmospheric effects and sparkling piano, the group’s heartfelt melodic rap verses and stunning vocals—particularly from MJ, whose crystal voice perfectly fits the sorrowful message of the song—drive the heartbreak home.
The song does not have a music video at this time, but you can stream the track on ASTRO’s official YouTube channel below.
