Wok of Love is a 2018 drama starring Lee Junho, Jang Hyuk, and Jung Ryewon that sets love ablaze and introduces audiences to Korean-Chinese dishes. An unlikely team of a chef, a destitute heiress, and a gang try to compete with a five star hotel restaurant in their ramshackled establishment across the street. 

With a Korean interpretation and influence of Chinese cuisine, the drama pays close attention to detail in regard to the various methods of preparation and foodology. With plenty of romantic angst, drama, and a fun ensemble of secondary characters, the series is a delight. 

Drinking Solo is a 2016 drama starring Park Hasun, Ha Seokjin, and Gong Myung about the woes and daily life of teachers and students.The lives of various individuals connected through an academy that preps college students for the civil service exam find solace through drinks in solitude as life expectations weigh heavily on them. 

Although involving alcohol and the vulnerable emotions attached to drinking, the drama also features plenty of appetizing food to complement the drinks. Each character’s personality is presented through the palate of their choice of drink and food, setting them apart from one another. With plenty of underlying stories, the series contains depth and loads of comedic elements that provide plenty of laughs and memorable moments. 

Dinner Mate is a 2020 drama starring Song Seunghoon and Seo Jihye as a therapist and broadcasting producer that decide to mend their broken hearts by becoming dinner buddies who mull over their past failed relationships. The two meet on the condition that they never reveal their identities, but complications arise as they develop feelings for each other. Things also become messy as their respective exes abruptly enter their lives once again. 

Food is a means to heal deep wounds as food psychology is introduced in this series and extends from heartache to mental disorders. What you eat and who you eat with matters, developing one’s appetite and cognition. Moreover, as a romance drama, Dinner Mate gives us a couple that tries their best to navigate through the ups and downs of their relationship while exploring the other person’s sense of taste.
