Your New Favorite Female Vocalist: Jiselle

Hailing from SURAN’s home label MILLION MARKET, Jiselle is the newest artist to emerge on the scene at the age of 19. Only a year since her debut, Jiselle released three singles in 2019 and so far in 2020 has collaborated with producer EDEN, who is known by most K-Pop fans as the lead producer for ATEEZ’s discography. She may be new with only a handful of releases, but she’s already proven to have a ton of potential.

Jiselle’s first single release is titled “받지마” or “Missed Call” and features Chancellor. The track was released in February 2019. The chill beat is absolutely infectious, and Jiselle’s tone is rather angelic and accompanied by a dream-like quality that makes it difficult to forget, even after only the first listen. Fans of R&B will instantly fall in love. The music video has over 500,000 views and is currently her highest-viewed video.

“Better This Way” followed in June of the same year and took a different direction musically. Rather than the classic R&B beat, “Better This Way” has a more electropop undertone. However, it is particularly subdued in order to shine more light on her vocal ability, which proves successful. Her voice is quite powerful, but not in an overt way. Rather, her tone is smooth and sweet, but the power is quite apparent when she jumps octaves easily in the chorus.

“Problem” was released in December of 2019 and features well-known rapper pH-1. The video has a retro feel as it appears to be shot on a ‘90s quality camera, which has a nostalgic feel for those of us that are on the older side and remember watching pop releases on MTV with grainy video quality. The video itself is actually just a short visual film, which only showcases about a minute of the actual song taken from the beginning. The subtle synth used in the melody and the catchy rhythm definitely solidifies the ‘90s R&B feel of the track.

Jiselle has been less active in 2020, but on August 24 she was revealed to have featured on EDEN’s single [EDEN_STARDUST 2] vol.03 and the single “FALL IN LUST.” EDEN has been gaining attention and popularity as of late with ATEEZ continuing to reach new heights of success, but people are a bit less familiar with his solo work. This collaboration with Jiselle shows everything that is perfect about both artists, with a sexy R&B beat accompanied by Jiselle’s angelic voice. The track is all in English, and it’s impossible to imagine another singer accompanying this track.

Jiselle’s discography may be limited at this point, but even just these four songs showcase the talent she naturally possesses, and they prove that as she grows in her career, she will be an artist to be reckoned with. At only 19 years old she has already collaborated with some of the most respected names in the industry, so the sky's the limit in terms of future endeavors. If you love R&B and killer vocals, be sure to support Jiselle going forward!
