The Hardest Female K-Pop Dances

One of the most eye-catching moments in a music video is the choreography! Fans will do whatever it takes to learn some of their favorite K-Pop dances, even taking days or months to perfect their skills. However, there are certain choreographies that are known to be difficult based on the speed level, precise movements, and dance style. With various factors that can be challenging, it can be difficult and oftentimes painful to do these dances with little to no dance experience. Do you think you can take on these dances? Check out this list of difficult K-Pop dances done by your favorite female idols and see what they can do!

Disclaimer: If you're not a skilled and experienced dancer, please make sure to pace yourselves, drink plenty of water, and listen to your body if you try these choreographies! Take care of yourself!

Dreamcatcher - “Chase Me”

The choreography that Dreamcatcher presents for "Chase Me" seems complex because of the synchronization and technique needed just to accomplish the beginning of the track. Even after multiple views, it's impressive and jaw-dropping when you realize that these women debuted with this energetic choreography and performance. There's no doubt that Dreamcatcher's dance skills are highly advanced based on this performance alone; they have several other music videos with other choreographies that really showcase that they are aces and all-rounders on stage. The swift transitions and in-sync movements prove that these girls can take on any challenging choreography and perfect every single detail from start to finish. Plus, they can still sing with stability and impress with their mighty vocals!

IZ*ONE - “FIESTA”

With twelve members to showcase in their precise and detailed choreography, it can be a challenge to get it just right. In “FIESTA,” there are several quick step movements that require both hand and leg steps to occur at the right moment to match the flow of the other members. By the time you reach the chorus, you have to make sure you're not a second off from moving your arms or dropping one leg out to the ground. It is also important that each movement looks clean and aligns with the others' positions on stage. It's mostly difficult choreography to take on by yourself, or to do while singing since a lot of energy will be used for the choreography, but it's impressive to see how IZ*ONE takes on such difficult choreographies and is still able to perform with the power in their vocals.

AFTER SCHOOL - “First Love”

In this instance, the choreography that is challenging here is what's shown for the making of the music video for AFTER SCHOOL’s "First Love." The members had to take on a new skill by practicing the pole dancing style in order to incorporate it into their video and live performances. Pole dancing on its own is very challenging as it can be difficult to hold your weight up, transition movements quickly with ease, and still maintain a natural performance visual. Oftentimes, those who learn the dance style end up with bruises and soreness of the body. For these women to have done this performance during their music video and on stage is admirable as it's a very difficult style to perfect in a short amount of time, especially while holding a note.

Hyolyn - “Dally (feat. GRAY)”

As a solo artist, Hyolyn does not shy away from showcasing her multiple talents on stage or in the dance studio. The choreography for her hit single “Dally (feat. GRAY)” takes on challenging aspects like flexibility, timing, and confidence to make it look smooth. Seeing a sudden drop into splits and then picking yourself back up effortlessly takes plenty of experience and skill to perfect. It's definitely not the best choreography for beginners (though if you can handle it, that's awesome!). Aside from detailed movements, it can be hard to have confidence in your abilities if you cannot express them in your body movements and facials. Hyolyn is clearly very talented if she can make this choreography look easy on stage, and especially in heels!

Red Velvet - IRENE & SEULGI - “Naughty”

If you're not great with timing or precision of details, tutting might not be the style for you. It may look simple to memorize the exact positions your hands and arms need to be in, but it takes a very long time to get it just right. But even idols can make small mistakes without making it look obvious! "Naughty" requires attention to detail, timed camerawork to a specific tutting movement, and adjustment to the pacing with a partner. The Red Velvet sub-unit of Irene and Seulgi successfully dance to this single with clean angles from their obvious long period of practice and still show out with their strong vocals and visuals.

AleXa - “Bomb”

From start to finish, this choreography can really be a challenge if you don't pace yourself and break down the steps carefully. In AleXa’s "Bomb," there are tons of moments that make fans question where she has time to breathe in such technique-heavy choreography. At the beginning, she jumps out from her back-up dancers holding her up and still lands with grace into the next step with ease. The chorus is where we see the speed and transition of the movements are awfully fast and can cause potential harm to beginners trying it out, so do be warned. Her skill is unlike others, as she can do this performance on and off stage with platform boots (wow!). It's easy to see that AleXa's dance skills are practically unmatched, especially with an upbeat song like "Bomb."

LOONA - “Butterfly”

With another girl group filled with twelve members, the detail and timing is especially important in the choreography for "Butterfly." The choreography here is showcased without needing to be emphasized during vocal parts, but it doesn't make it any less challenging for the average dancer. In order to get this right, you have to make sure you are in the right position, whether it's on the floor or on the side stage. This takes so much skill to perfect the synchronization among twelve members, it's amazing to see the hard work that LOONA puts into their dances. However, a lot of their dances can physically take a toll on the body without necessary practice, so do be careful and take care of your body when learning the choreography!
