Get in the Perfect Fall Mood with Hoody

Let’s face it: Hoody’s voice is the ultimate comfort. I’m not sure about where all you readers are, but where I live it has been cloudy and rainy for over a week. It’s hard to function properly without sunlight, and Hoody’s latest single really encapsulates the gloomy feeling when we’re lacking sunshine, even if it is only a side-effect prolonging a lasting heartbreak.

“비가 그치면 (When The Rain Stops)” is a smooth R&B track that combines a soft beat with Hoody’s soulful vocals to provide a feeling of longing and melancholy that is strikingly relatable. The song has the perfect beat and tempo that gives off slight lofi vibes, with the lyrics relating to the difficulty of moving on when the weather is statically gloomy. As humans, we can all relate to this type of woeful feeling, and the track captures it perfectly in a way that is strangely comforting.

The video is shot with a heavy use of shadow, the cast of characters oftentimes with their faces not visible and immersed in the shadows. Even as Hoody appears to sing, her face is dark and bathed in a low orange light. She is also shown in a car during a downpour to emphasize the song taking place amidst the peak time of the struggle, while wishing for the end of the rain. Three other actors are present: one woman showcasing an emotional dance to the song, another curled in a ball overcome with her feelings, and finally a third man quietly suffering in a dark, long hallway. With the imagery added into the video, you can really feel the feelings and message behind the song.
